Pardoned
Pardoned
Our prayer today is for pardon:
It is written: "Let the wicked forsake his way and the evil man his thoughts. Let him turn to the Lord, and he will have mercy on him, and to our God, for he will freely pardon." (Isaiah 55:7)
Do you ever feel the weight of the things you have done, or of thoughts you have thought, or words you have spoken, and wished you had never thought, said or done them? If so, then today's prayer is for you.
LET US PRAY -
Our Father in heaven, we come to you as our God, the Almighty, the creator and the God who cares about us. We praise you for you are the beginning and the end - you are from eternity past, to eternity to come. You are the bright and morning star, and you give us direction when life is darkest. You are the bread of life for our lives, and all that sustains us is in you. Thank you for being a God like that.
Thank you too for your word to us in our text today. You do not force yourself or your ways on us - you respect our free will and freedom of choice. But you are there all the time convicting us to leave aside our rebellious ways. And the moment we choose to turn from our own ways, you quickly respond - not with punishment, but with mercy and forgiveness - we receive your royal pardon - freely. There is no price to pay - for you have done that in Jesus. And when we are pardoned, you treat us as if we had never ever turned from you. What an amazing God you are, how rich and wonderful are your thoughts and actions toward us!
Father, we confess again today that by the way we are born we are naturally self absorbed, and self centred. We do things that suit us, we rebel naturally against you, and against the beautiful principles of your government as outlined in your holy law. Please forgive us again today for our self-centeredness and our rebellious behaviour.
God, please do not take from us your Holy Spirit who wakens our conscience; who give us conviction of our wrongs, and who calls us to surrender to you where we find forgiveness and acceptance.
Father, I pray for each of our prayer friends today. For those who have already said YES to you, please give them the assurance again today of your love and forgiveness to them. For those who have never said YES to you, may they sense your call to them - and may they give in to you, choose to turn from their rebellious ways, and claim the promise of your full and free pardon.
Hear our prayer of praise our God, and our request for pardon for our sins, and life with you.
Answer our prayer according to your will.
And we pray in the name of Jesus.
Amen.
